Drive from WAV buyers guide

Choosing a drive-from wheelchair vehicle can be more involved than simply choosing from our used WAV vehicles for sale. As pioneers in the field of drive-from used WAV vehicles we know all too well what to look out for when choosing a suitable vehicle. Our team here at GM Select has put together a Buyer’s Guide so you know what to look for when browsing through our used WAV vehicles for sale.

Buyers Guide Block
Our buyer's guide for wheelchair drivers

Choosing a drive-from wheelchair vehicle can be a little daunting if it’s your first time. Our Buyers Guide has been written by our experienced team to help you find the perfect used accessible car. In this guide we look at cars with lowered floors, options for accessing the vehicle and how any vehicle can be tailored to suit the driver.

What Is A Dfw
What is a drive from WAV?

Drive-from wheelchair vehicles are designed to allow the vehicle to be driven by a wheelchair user from the comfort of their powerchair. The driver will access the vehicle by either a ramp or an underfloor lift. These will be operated by a one-touch remote control keypad. View our used stock of drive-from wheelchair vehicles.

Transfer From Wheelchair
Can I transfer from my wheelchair?

If you are preferring to transfer from your wheelchair or powerchair to the driver’s seat you may wish to consider an internal transfer vehicle. Just like drive-from wheelchair vehicles, access into the vehicle will either be by remote operated powered ramp or underfloor side lift.

Dfw Alternatives
What are the alternatives?

If you don’t wish to drive an adapted vehicle and your mobility allows, you may consider adapting your own vehicle to facilitate you being able to drive. GM can offer a wide range of seating solutions and methods to transfer to your car. Call us for details.
